Is your website gaining or losing business?

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

A well maintained, professional website, with a well thought out marketing campaign behind it, can be a great asset for your business. But is it gaining business or is the website losing business?

On the reverse end, a poorly designed website could cause more damage to your brand than help it, and if it has no marketing campaign behind it, no-one will even see it.

But how would you know if your website is helping or harming your business?

The first and foremost test would be whether you are generating any leads or business from it. If you are not getting enquiries weekly or daily even from your website, it is safe to say that it doesn’t work for you.

But what if you have no idea of telling whether your leads are coming from your website or not?

Well, you had better start investigating this really. One way to see what happens on your website is to go look at your Google Analytics reports. This could give you clues as to how many people are going to your site and if they are actually looking at your important web pages or not.

Another way is to simply keep track of forms filled in on the site or phone calls made from numbers listed on your site. We can help you set this up if you do not have this kind of tracking.

Lastly you can simply survey your customers by asking them “how did you find out about us?”

What to do if your website doesn’t bring in business.

There could be many reasons why the site isn’t bringing in new business, but the first place to start would be the website itself. Because even if you started the best and largest marketing campaign on the planet, you would just end up wasting a lot of money if your website was not set up to take all that traffic and convert it into leads or sales.

Things like broken forms, no clear calls to action, no clear contact details, a slow website, not communicating what you do clearly, not looking professional etc. could all be reasons for why you are not getting leads.

Once these are handled, one can focus on the second main target which is how are you generating traffic and where your traffic is coming from. It comes as a surprise to most people that if they do not do something to drive traffic to their website, the chances are that no-one will ever find their website. Unfortunately the “build it and they will come” attitude does not always work on the web.

One needs a solid strategy of how to get traffic and in most instances this will need at least some money to get started with. This is also where we can help you decide on the best strategy for your business as well as run your online advertising campaigns fro you.
